Hyderabad : Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he was saddened by the demise of noted activist and Padma Bhushan awardee Ela Bhatt.
Taking to twitter, he said Bhatt devoted her life to Gandhian ideals and transformed the lives of millions of women, by empowering them.
My heartfelt condolences to her near & dear ones, and her many admirers, Gandhi said.
Renowned women’s rights activist and one of the last Gandhians, Ela Bhatt passed away at a hospital in Ahmedabad yesterday after a brief illness at the age of 89.
